Music Island Taipei, Founder: Scott

My first encounter with Rubasse dates back to 2017.

An advertisement for a Near-Infrared (NIR) Roaster flashed across Facebook with an avant-garde, high-tech glow, as if prophesying the future of coffee roasting. As my palate became increasingly demanding and the beans I purchased never quite hit the mark, my ‘inner roaster soul’ began to stir like a dormant volcano. I scoured data on international giants like P, G, D, L, F… and while these ‘titans of the roasting world’ had illustrious reputations, when faced with the reality of my ‘pocket depth’ (budget), I lacked the final push of courage to take the leap.

Revisiting the dream of roasting: Meeting Rubasse again

It wasn’t until a coffee expo that I finally got some hands-on experience. There, I met Kwang, the Northern District Sales Rep, whose passion was like a raging fire. He wasn’t just a salesman; he was a ‘proselytizer’ of the roasting life. With his gift of gab, he simplified complex Roasting Theories , guiding me toward the grand realization of moving ‘from science to art.’ After a bit of back-and-forth psychological tug-of-war—much like a classic ‘no, please don’t’ flirtation—I placed an order for the lightweight Hyper 1.2kg. This ‘unexpected certainty’ actually strengthened my confidence and appreciation for Rubasse as a Taiwanese brand.

The six-month wait was a season of growth.

After a six-month wait, my Hyper 1.2kg was finally delivered this past May. However, those six months were by no means a ‘gap period’; they were a precious time for ‘preview and growth.’ I’m especially grateful to Kwang for always being the first to answer my countless questions about machine operation, helping me build a solid Roasting Foundation . Of course, a novice is bound to make mistakes, but with every confusion or error, the Rubasse team acted like a seasoned ‘sage,’ providing a wealth of experience to fill the gaps in my knowledge.

A community of professional coffee people with heart.

As a roasting rookie, what attracted me most to Rubasse was actually the people behind it. From professional, detailed instructional videos to occasional hands-on courses and Cupping  sessions, they have built a powerful intellectual and emotional community. That sense of ‘ALL IN’ support gives me peace of mind and makes me willing to trust this brand.

Roasting my own signature flavors.

Now, I can confidently roast the Flavor Profiles I love and share them with the teachers and artists who visit ‘Music Island.’ This transformation and pride—moving from a ‘rookie’ to a ‘pro’—has made me love coffee even more. I’ll always enthusiastically recommend Rubasse as a top-tier ‘Made in Taiwan’ brand.
